Cold vs Flu – Know the Difference

  • Post category:Health

The flu and the common cold are both respiratory illnesses but are caused by different viruses. These illnesses have very similar symptoms and it can be difficult to tell them apart. The difference is in how intense the symptoms feel and how common they are. In general, symptoms of the flu appear quickly, while symptoms of a cold happen slowly. While cold symptoms can make you feel bad for a few days, flu symptoms can make you feel quite ill for a few days to weeks. The flu can also result in serious health problems such as pneumonia and hospitalizations.

Flu shots are covered 100% through Independence Administrators if using an in-network provider. If you chose to use an out-of-network provider, the Fund Office will reimburse you up to $25.
